The legislation which allows the genetically modified organisms to be imported to Turkey has been issued. It is claimed to be a scandal by the Organization of Cultivation Engineers.

The legislation about import, export, control and usage of the genetically modified organisms(GMO) which are aimed to be used as food or lure, has been declared in the Official News. The head of Cultivation Engineers Organization, Gökhan Günaydın stated that this legislation is “a scandal in terms of laws, sovereignty and public health”

The head who conducted a press conference made a respond to that this legislation came into effect without a discussion in the parliament.

If it was discussed in the Assembly, public would react!
The National Biosecurity Law Proposal which is stated to be took place in the parliament during the new legislation term by the spokesman of the government, Cemil Çiçek, is withdrawed. Günaydın said that “If the law proposal took place in Assembly, the issue and the discussions would be known by the public who would probably react against.”

Non-law-based regulation

"Turkey does not need to GMO"
