Davutoğlu comments on Turkey's relationship with Israel
Davutoğlu commented on the secret meeting with Israel and the local current events at his interview published in the newspapers "Hürriyet" and "Bugün". He declared his worries because of the unsolved problems at the territory despite Obama's two years of presidency.
Davutoğlu, Turkey's Foreign Minister, gave a long interview about Turkey-Israel relationship, meetings with USA and local conflicts.
Davutoğlu said that at the secret meeting in Brussel, they gave Israel three choices: "Israel will either apologize or acknowledge an international, impartial inquiry and its conclusion. Otherwise, our diplomatic ties will be cut off" He said that they also had a meeting with Obama after the secret meeting in Brussel and USA asked Turkey to give a chance to the commission set up by Israel but they refused on principle. He also said that they had four theories about what Israel might do to Mavi Marmara (the attacked ship from the aid flotilla) but they never expected things to turn out as they did.
"Obama has been the president for two years. There are accumulated problems but no ongoing process in Middle East and Caucasia" said Davutoğlu, expressing his worries. He also commented on Iran sanctions and said that if they did not vote against it, they would be disrespectful to their own agreement.
About the controversial issue of banning flights, Davutoğlu said that all military flights from Israel have been banned with the consent of all government agencies and there is nothing about the civil flights yet. "If steps are not taken, the process of isolation will continue," he added.
