14 million TL transferred from pensioners to pro-AKP Pensioners Association

kazim_ergun_tayyip_e_cicek.jpgIn total, 14 million TL has been deducted from pension payments to the Pensioner Association of Turkey in February. The association is known with its ties to the ruling AKP.

Each pensioner has been deducted 18.00TL which was transferred to the association. It is noted that the Chairperson of the association, Mr Kazım Ergün (shown in the picture presenting the Prime Minister Erdoğan with a bouquet) is also in the board of management of the Social Security organisation.

Some of the other pensioner organisations have protested the action and stated that they would take the matter to the Administrative Court as this has affected 770 thousand pensioners who are not members of the association.

Chairperson of the Pensioners’ Union, Mr Beysülen stated that the deductions were made in January and February which are the months when pensioners are usually deposited additional funds into their accounts. This made the detection of the deduction difficult. He stated that this action by the Social Security organisation is unlawful as it has taken place without the knowledge of the individual pensioner.
