Obama confirmed unwavering commitment to Israel
Holding his fourth meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu since becoming the President of USA, Obama confirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to Israel stating that "the bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable".
The political commentators quickly pointed out the difference between the tone of this meeting compared to the one in March which was held in a more sombre mood.
This time despite all the negative criticism of Israel such as the US administration’s previous opposition to Israel’s settlement action, the attack on the flotilla by the Israeli security forces and more importantly the death of eight Turkish nationals in that incident Obama has shown to the world once again that "the bond between the United States and Israel is unbreakable".
Prime Minister Netanyahu could not hide his satisfaction after the meeting with Obama. "Mr President, I want to thank you for reaffirming to me in private and now in public, as you did, the long-standing U.S. commitments to Israel", he said.
