Agreement with Russia Ratified

The Turkish Parliament ratified the agreement on cooperation with Russia for the establishment of a nuclear power plant in Mersin province despite all opposition from local people and chambers of engineers.

Israel: We won't apologize

Liebermann, Foreign Minister of Israel, answered Turkey's demand of "an apology": "We have no intention to apologize. We think the opposite is true." Liebermann said that they think apologizing conflicts with the facts.

Protest Against Sivas Massacre

Thousands of people met in front of Madımak Hotel in Sivas Province, where 33 intellectuals were burned by reactionists on 2nd July, 1993. The demand for transforming the Madımak Hotel into a museum was expressed. It was emphasized that the mentality in power at present is the mentality that made the Sivas massacre.

The former co-chairman of DTP, the political party representing the Kurdish population in Turkey, is on trial with a request of custody for 45 years due to 7 different speeches he made between 2006-2009. He is claimed to make propaganda of a terrorist organization and to commit crime on behalf of that organization, though not being a member.

Kurdish student attacked in Marmara University

A Kurdish student was the victim of an attack by a fascist group of 8 people. The student was hospitalized with cracks in his head and cleaver cuts in his hand.

4 released in the Ergenekon investigation

4 lawyers that were arrested in the Ergenekon investigation have been released.

3 more wounded returned from Israel

3 more wounded activists from the vessel Mavi Marmara have returned to Turkey. Only 2 wounded people are left in Israel from Turkey.

A worker died in Yatağan

Mehmet Kırıkcıoğlu, 26, worker in a marble quarry in Yatağan, Muğla died in an accident. A marble block fell down on the worker.

Egypt opened Rafah crossing

Egyptian government announced that they have opened the Rafah border crossing to Gaza Strip. Hamas authorities confirmed that the crossing is opened.
